Jerry T. Lawler is a clinical psychologist licensed in Maryland. Dr. Lawler sees a variety of clients in his two practices but specializes in adults with anxiety and PTSD, anger issues, marriage and couples counseling, and spiritual concerns. He has recently been concerned with the limited options available to families with youth suffering from gender dysphoria under “affirmative” models of treatment and seeks to provide more options to these families. Youth with gender dysphoria and adults seeking to de-transition often have nowhere to go to simply and objectively explore the origin of their distress.
Dr. Lawler received an MBA from San Jose St. in 1989 and a Ph.D. from the California School of Professional Psychology (Now Alliant University) in 1993 in clinical psychology. He has been in continuous private practice in California and, since 2001 in Maryland. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. lawler, inspired by a year of volunteer work in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, has published on societal level trauma and is interested in bridging strategies to treat trauma in the consulting room to larger social conflicts.
