Stella is a psychotherapist and bestselling author. Much of her writing focuses on mental health and the importance of well-being and she is a regular contributor to the Irish media. Stella’s first bestselling book, ‘Cotton Wool Kids’, was released in 2015 while ‘Bully-Proof Kids: Practical tools to help kids grow up confident, resilient and strong’ was released in 2017. ‘Fragile’: Why are we feeling more anxious and overwhelmed than ever before’, which focuses on overcoming anxiety and stress was released in 2019. Stella is also the resident psychotherapist for the current RTÉ series, Raised by the Village.This is a family programme that helps troubled teenagers reconnect with themselves and their families.
In 2018, Stella was the presenter of the highly-acclaimed Channel 4 documentary ‘Trans – Kids: It’s Time To Talk’. This documentary portrayed the many challenges that can be related to gender identity.
Stella holds an honours degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy and a masters in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. She is an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist who is rooted Person-Centred counselling within a CBT framework. She is a member of the Society for Evidence-based Gender Medicine (https://segm.org/) and her work is shaped by an aim to promote safe, compassionate, ethical and evidence-based healthcare.
